5) Running, braking, and deceleration checklist

This is where many “cleared” athletes still fail.

The athlete should demonstrate:
• Linear running tolerance
• Acceleration and max-velocity re-exposure
• Repeated deceleration tolerance
• Ability to stop off either leg
• Forward, lateral, and rotational braking mechanics
• No swelling response after high-speed exposures
• No loss of knee position under fatigue

For basketball, I would specifically want:
• hard 1-2 stop
• stride stop
• lateral shuffle brake
• crossover brake
• backpedal to plant
• single-leg stick from forward and diagonal approach
• repeated decel under fatigue

ACL and meniscus RTS both need this. For meniscus, decel and rotation exposure must respect symptom response and tissue irritability, especially after repair.
